I have had a pretty desperate week so far to be honest which has not been helped by a few on going health issues that keep putting spanners in the works and today was the first time that I have had to cancel a meeting because I simply could not manage the 2-hour drive. Well, it was a sad day but still none the less I needed to work on being well rather than doing business deals.
So tonight while my good lady Jane is asleep I decided that I would go through my massive portfolio of domain names and start clicking the “disable Auto Renew” button and let a lot of the domains go and expire. I could have sold them on, and I could have made a bit more money but to be honest that is just asking for a headache and so tonight I have let a fair few domains expire.
So now I am down to around 50 domains and a lot of them are domains all around one niche, which is very much like putting all my eggs in one basket but still none the less I own this niche, and they are more of an electric fence around it than anything else.
Not only have I deleted and got rid of a tonne of domains I have also just been through my google analytics account and deleted a tonne of old analytics profiles, and I decided to look back at some of the sites I use to own from the good ole days of Internet marketing when Google was easy to trick and when ranking was something, you could pretty much do in an afternoon but these days you need to spend every hour god sends to get a site’s ranking.
I was amazed at how much traffic one site was receiving, and how little it earned when it was doing really well. I was a little annoyed that I did not look into it sooner yet I let it go stale and stagnant and even just browsing around the analytics, I could smell the rotten figures. It was a bit of a sad night to be honest a little nostalgic maybe, but still it is the end of an era, and I am hoping the future takes me to a place fair better than I have ever been to before.
2014 is set to be a great year for myself and my company, I have lots of things planned, and I am working on some pretty massive projects but still there is always that doubt at the back of your mind about what might happen and more to the point has Google got in store for 2014?
I have to say that over the last couple of years, I have been changing the way I do SEO and how I promote sites, and I am definitely going for the bigger fish and creating bigger authority sites along with seo services charlotte we are trying to build a big following and also become an authority within that niche.
I have been busy working on sites with no clear direction, and although I have been very successful with these sites, I need to map out what I am doing and where I want to go. The new year for me is going to be something that is going to be a big change for me and for my company. I want a bigger presence on Youtube, and Youtube is going to be a strategy that I constantly work on, and I will see about getting a couple of videos getting five figure traffic as this would be a great start for me.
Sorry this post seems a bit morbid and a bit down but to be honest I am in that kind of mood.
Hopefully, my next post will be a little more up beat, and I am sure it will be.
Thanks again for reading.
